Soul Slam
SOUL SLAM centers around a battle between two of the most eclectic and innovative artists to date, Michael Jackson and Prince! From the inception of this concept back in 1999 the response for SOUL SLAM has been enormous. This event turns into a DJ battle with one DJ, DJ Spinna and an audience of hardcore MJ and Prince fans. DJ Spinna sets the tone of this event as he lays down track after track from both MJ’s and Princes extensive music catalogues along with tracks of their cohorts, ie; Jermaine Jackson, Vanity, Janet, Sheila E., Jackson 5, The Time etc.
DJ Spinna
Arguably one of the world’s best DJs, DJ Spinna is also one of the most respected producers transcending genres. As one of the top producers in the house scene he has remixed Stevie Wonder, Black Coffee, Shaun Escoffery, Karizma & Kenny Dope; as one of Hip-Hop’s revered producers he’s responsible for the underground classic “Tribute to Dilla” single with Phonte of Little Brother; and as a heavyweight in the world of Soul he compiled the “Wonder of Stevie” with Bobbito, which turned a new generation on to the music of Stevie Wonder. To boot, their “Wonder-full” party became so well known and loved it attracted Stevie himself (!!). Along with Keistar he also created “Soul Slam” – the Prince vs. Michael Jackson party to end all Prince vs. Michael Jackson parties! There are very few other DJs in the world that can claim the “Triple Crown” rep as a producer, DJ, and brand creator, which is why many consider Spinna to be #1.

As one of the original members of Massive Selector, a San Francisco-based collective of artists, DJs, and entrepreneurs, Marky produces acclaimed events such as Wonder-Full: A Tribute to the Wonders of Stevie, Soul Slam: Prince and Michael Jackson, and SFNY. Heavily influenced by funk, soul, disco, hip-hop, and house, Markys sound definitely caters to the dancefloor. His mixes, known for their global flavor and crossing genres seamlessly, have created quite a buzz with music lovers. Marky has played alongside internationally known artists such as ?uestlove, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Gilles Peterson, DJ Spinna, Bobbito Garcia, Peanut Butter Wolf, Dam-Funk, Prefuse 73, Flying Lotus and countless others. You can catch Marky at Sweater Funk, the Citys only party dedicated to boogie funk and modern soul on original wax at The Knockout every Sunday night.
Hakobo
Jacobo Juarez (a.k.a. Hakobo) DJ, promoter, music geek, and owner of a world class venue named SOM. in San Francisco’s historic Mission District. Hakobo’s love for music comes through in his DJ sets – spinning boogie & classics alongside futuristic Soul, Hip-Hop and UK Funky. Hakobo and fresco only want to continue to bring new and exciting DJs & music to the Bay Area with such greats as Benji B., Gilles Peterson, Kenny Dope, and Floating Points.
King Most
Patrick Diaz (a.k.a King Most) is a DJ/producer who has toured across North America, Japan, and Europe and has shared the decks with legends such as Madlib (Stones Throw), Dam-Funk (Stones Throw), Theophilus London, Too Short, & De La Soul. He has also collaborated with Nike, HBO, & ESPN on various media production projects. As the Marketing Director of SOM., an award winning nightclub located in the Mission District of San Francisco, he has helped make SOM a top destination for music driven audiences.
