Promoting independent filmmakers and their stories, for the past 15 years The Oakland International Film Festival has showcased independent filmmakers at various venues in Oakland, Ca. A few venues to mention: The Grand Lake Theater, The Oakland Museum, Holy Names University, The New Parkway, Laney College, Merritt College, have been the homes to connect filmmakers with the Oakland community. During the five day event, various events are held to connect filmmakers to the film industry and the general audience their stories were made to reach.
